Step 1:

Put the washcloth over your doll's shoulders to keep her clothes dry!

Step 2:

Dip the brush in the bowl of water to get it wet.

Step 3:

Get your doll's hair wet by brushing her hair with the damp brush.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Don't soak her hair, just try and get it to be less frizzy and straighter.  For a smoother look, try putting an eensy bit of conditioner in her hair.

Step 4:

Carefully gather a ponytail, leaving hair out all the way around it.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Make sure you have an even amount of hair out all the way around the hairline without any places where it is pulled comletely back.

Step 5:

Secure the ponytail with a rubber band.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Try and keep stray hairs from sticking out of the ponytail!

Step 6:

Twist the ponytail and bring it up over the rubber band and around, creating a bun.

Step 9:

Open a foam curler and start rolling the strand of hair around it.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Tuck in all the hairs when you start to make a clean looking curl.

Step 10:

Twist the curler all the way up to the head.

Step 11:

Snap the curler shut.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Make sure the curler is nice and tight!  Loose curlers will create loose curls that do not last very long.

Step 12:

Repeat this curling process for the strands of hair left out all the way around the head.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Do not leave any hair uncurled!

Step 13:

Leave the curlers in all night.

♥ Cristal's Tip:  Give your doll some extra soft pillows to sleep on... those curlers really do hurt!

Step 14:

In the morning, unsnap a curler and gently pull downwards.

♥ Cristal's Tip: The curls should spring back up again once the curlers are out.  If they hang limply and do not bounce up, the curls are probably still wet. In this case, you should leave them in a while longer.

Step 15:

Take out all the curlers.

Step 16:

Pick a curl.  Put your thumb on the bottom of the curl and your pointer finger on top of the curl.  Compress the curl between these two fingers to create a coil.

Step 17:

Bring the coil up towards the bun.

Step 18:

Secure the coil to the bun with a bobby pin.

♥ Cristal's Tip: Thin, open bobby pins like this one work the best.

Step 19:

Repeat with all the curls around the head.

♥ Cristal's Tip: For an elegant touch, leave one curl out on the side of the head.

Step 20:

Decorate the hairstyle any way you like! Use bobby pins to secure decorations to the hairstyle.

On Lily Merriman I have used two strands of pearls, one around the bun, and one around the coiled curls, and I have pinned a feather and some flowers to the side of her head.

Isn't it divine?

♥ Cristal's Tip: Do not completely cover the hairsyle with decorations- you want to be able to see the lovely coils!
