Name of Dress: Nancy's Sonata Dinner
Dress Made by: Greta Gothard Made for: Felicity Merriman Made
with: turquoise cotton fabric, peach ribbon, floral ribbon, small white lace, large white lace
This
dress was made by Lily Merriman for Felicity originally, but it wouldn't fit her properly, so Nan got it as a hand-me-down.
Nancy likes it a lot because she can jump around in it and she usually doesn't have to wear a corset because it is very loose-fitting.
The stomacher is made out of alternating layers of small
white lace and floral ribbon, and it is lined by the same ribbon plus some peach ribbon.
It fastens with a snap
near the bottom of the stomacher.
The sleeves are made of two different lace sizes, as was
the fashion, and then topped with a perky sleeve ruffle in the same fabric of the overdress.
The different thing about this dress from other dinner dresses
is the way the overskirt matches the underskirt and opens up, curtain-style, in the front.
This is accentuated
by the double lining of floral and peach ribbon.
